He also loved his "talking birthday card" and we have all heard it about 100 times...good thing it's cute! And our present was a big hit! We got him a magnetic fishing set and he's pretty pumped. Here's a little video we took in the morning.

More Birthday Fun
Jack had such a great birthday that I had to quick post one more thing. He'd been excited about this day for about 3 months and...minus the fear of the sparking birthday cake (see previous post) it was a great day. Oh and except for the fact that he broke out into tears when we tried to wake him up with what we thought was a gentle rendition of "Happy Birthday". It was nearly 8am and he's usually up long before that...so we thought he would have liked it. Oops. Ok so other than THAT I think he had a great birthday! He LOVED the new supply of Legos from grandma and Grandpa and has been building towers and houses and "bug trains" ever since.

He also loved his "talking birthday card" and we have all heard it about 100 times...good thing it's cute! And our present was a big hit! We got him a magnetic fishing set and he's pretty pumped. Here's a little video we took in the morning.

Happy Birthday Jack!
I promise we took pictures of Jack on his birthday. But most of them were deleted...by him. Apparently he got a hold of my camera...I didn't even realize it until I went to download pictures and there were at least 60 pictures of Marian, our bookcase, Jack's feet, and his new bugs from the dollar store. JACK!!!!! In an effort to not be too upset the the video of Jack running away from his birthday cake (because the trick candles which we thought he would love...ended up scaring him to death when they sparked) I am posting some of Jacks fine photography. He actually got some pretty good shots of Marian. Ah, but that video was so so hilarious! He literally put his hands on his cheeks and screamed when the candles started sparking. Then he tried to blow them out from across the room. Oh well, I guess Chad and I (and Kate, she was here) will have to treasure that memory in our hearts. You'll just have to use your imagination. Anyway, here are Jack's shots.

I seriously don't know how this child has not ended up in the ER yet. She falls from things ALL the time!
And here come the bugs. There were about 20 of these shots...I limited it to just a few

And last, but not least...Jack's feet. That's right those pink toe-nails belong to him. While my sister Kate was here (come back come back!) she painted Marian's nails and Jack was not going to be left out from the fun!
Mischievous though he may be, Jack has been such a treasure and a blessing in my life! The past 4 years have been so full of love and joy because of him. Happy Birthday Jack!

Joining the party
Last night I had a baby shower for my friend and I told Jack that he didn't have to go to bed but he had to stay in his room. Just as the shower was finishing up some of the girls were looking down the hallway laughing and I thought Jack had snuck out of his room and was trying grab some food. When I looked however...this is what I saw.

So cute! He was dead asleep and must have been there for quite some time because when I picked him up to put him in bed the ground was really really warm. So cute.

Marian's warm-ups
Every Wednesday morning Jack has a little sports class that is awesome! It is low key, age appropriate and all around fun. Jack loves it. He is not the only Pugh child who does. Marian is completely convinced the class is for her too. I would put her in the class but she is way too young. Warm ups are her favorite part and I don't have the heart to keep her out of them. She sometimes actually does the stretch with the class, but mostly she just likes standing with the kids, watching them do the work...and of course eating her snack. These videos show what I'm talking about.
Jumping jacks are way too much work for her...but very fun to watch!

Because it has rained so darn much this summer...
I tried being extra crafty...or at least let Jack try to be. So I drew a bunch of shapes on a piece of paper. Gave him some scissors, glue sticks, and more paper and told him to cut out the shapes and glue them on the other pieces of paper! Jack LOVED it ! and was doing a great job too. So when Marian woke up from her nap I gave her some crayons so she could be crafty too. I was about a foot away from them the whole time and kept looking up from what I was doing...just to make sure nothing bad happened with the scissors. Apparently I didn't look up often enough!

This is ONE of the 13 or so cuts Jack made in the dress. Wow. I didn't notice until I was holding Marian later that day. She must not have minded Jack's alterations because she never made a sound. At least he didn't cut her hair.
2: Books, Books, Books!!!

Chad does a hilarous version of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff. Ask him about it and he'll tell you he won 1st place in the 3rd grade storytelling competition with that story. Really, it's great. The kids LOVE it!

Jack has started reading to Marian...sooo cute! I have a video of it but for some reason it's not uploading...I'll work on that!
3: Long baths! My kids are having an exceptionally clean summer...they could play in there for hours!

Here comes the sun!
At first I wasn't sure what that bright warm thing coming through the windows was...but then I remembered. It was sunny this morning! We dashed outside and went to the park with our good friends Karen and Mathew.
Nothing like a morning at the park, some sunshine, and throwing rocks into the river to make boys happy!
It's supposed to rain this afternoon again...but I'm crossing my fingers for BBQ weather on the 4th!

It's Raining it's pouring
If it weren't for the darn cute rain coats I found at Costco today...this 30 day rain streak would have really started to get to me!
Joy School Graduation
Here is Jack and his friends from class!
Marian at least enjoyed the refreshments.
It was such a fun celebration!
