Dirty Strawberries

I took the kids strawberry picking last week. I didn't get many pictures, but the ones I did tell a great story.

Marian was all about the mischeif while we were there. She was getting into the bag, smashing strawberries, and wiping her hands on others. It wasn't until that night that I realized I had mini strawberry handprints on the back of my shirt.

Jack had way more fun running up and down the rows (smashing a few strawberies here and there) than he did actually picking them.

I could have captured a picture that told a better story, but I didn't think it would have been good of me to leave Marian crying in the HUGE puddle of mud while I ran back to get my camera...so this will have to do.

The strawberries were delicious by the way.

Only my mom...

can truly appreciate these pictures. My mom loves to tell the story about me saying "No no no no no" while dumping the dirt out of the house plants. Well, what goes around comes around.

Uncle Robby Came to Town

We had more fun than words can express. so I'll use pictures.

I think Marian is faking, but she sure took to Robby fast. What's cooler to a three year old boy than riding a "city bus"? Riding the "city bus" with uncle Robby!

Perhaps the best thing about Boston is the annual "Scooper Bowl" for a small fee you too could have eaten as much ice cream as you wanted!

This picture is drastically misleading. By the time he finished Robby added 4 more cups to his pile. It didn't hurt that Robby had no qualms with cutting the lines. I would wait in our designated spot with the kids and Robby would dash into the crowds and come out with ice cream for all!

It rained A LOT while Robby was here so we had to get creative. During a break in the weather we tried to pretend like we Lindsays have artistic capabilities.

Marian got more creative than we had perhaps anticipated. It must be the Pugh genes

Rob was a great sport and judging by the look on Jack's face, Jack will love Robby for the rest of his life.

Of course. If you're thinking this looks familiar...it's because it is. Let's take a little walk down memory lane two years ago to the last time Robby came to visit...

At least this time Jack got in on the action

more fun at the park

Rob helped cook dinner every night...he even made cornbread muffins from scratch and nobody got sick! Just kidding, they were FABULOUS!

He let me cut all of this...

off of this!

This is at the Discovery Museum...which is apparently not a cool place to take cool 12 year-olds.

So I made up for it by taking him to Dunkin Doughnuts. What's a trip to Boston without one? "Life runs on Dunkin"

The beach was the highlight! Rob, you are the best uncle!

Adam even came up to join in the fun. It was so fun to have him. After he left Robby talked of nothing but the stocks he (Robby) was going to invest in and why it would be a good investment for Chad and I to buy a house...because of inflation of course.

Robby managed to survive even though Jack never let him out of arms length...let along out of his sight.

We went candlepin bowling...I think Bostonians made this up...I've never heard of it anywhere else. It's like regular bowling only the balls are a lot smaller, the pins are like candle sticks and you get a lot more chances to knock them down.

I had to put in this picture because I think I look so darn cool.

Marian wouldn't stop trying to throw the balls on our feet so she got benched..with a supply of suckers of course.

Rob we had SO MUCH FUN and miss you like crazy already! Can't wait for California! Thank you thank you thank you for coming

Ingredients for a perfect day

While my brother Robby was here last week we took a drive up to the fabulous beaches in Gloucester (pronounced Gloster for you Utah folk). It was a heavenly day. The sun was out and if we didn't have pictures to prove it I almost wouldn't believe it myself. It has rained just about every day in June. The day really was gorgeous. We built sand castles, threw the frisbee ( I even caught a few of Chad's "long bombs" as he calls them. Seriously, he has me run drills...it's really fun.) And as my dad would say, "a good time was had by all." My bother Adam came up from NYC which was an added bonus.
Apparently the ingredients for a perfect day for the Pugh family are:
1: Uncle Robby and Uncle Adam
2: Lots of Sand
3: Sunshine
4: Unlimited amounts of Oreos and rootbeer.

I'm not sure if that's sand or Oreos on her face...probably both! She had so much fun!

It was such a great day!

Oops

I just recieved an email from the Boston Public Library that my fines are now in the double digits! Wow, at 10 cents a day x 20 board books...that adds up fast. Does that ever happen to you?

Life according to Marian

Hey everyone... my life as 1 year old girl can be pretty tough sometimes. I only have a small repertoire of words, and the words I do know are only understood by a select group of people...and even then they don't always obey...I mean understand. My screams and grunts seem to be entirely ineffective at the moment...but don't worry I won't give up. I can tell mom is about to give up teaching me to ask nicely. Nobody seems to appreciate my delicate appetite. I have no choice but to throw unacceptable items on the floor. And really, nobody wants to go to bed before the sun sets. Life can be especially difficult when your life could be in mortal danger at any given moment. Check out this video mom just happened to record and you will see what I mean. Mom would like me to point out that she had no idea that the following was going to happen. And Jack would like to point out that it was a total accident...I'm not sure I'm convinced:

See what I mean? Luckily, I am very very tough.

At least I get to have some fun. I LOVE to push my baby around in the stroller. While wearing my pink purse of course. Sometimes I get so frustrated because the baby never sits in the stroller exactly how I want her too and my purse always falls off my shoulder. It is so frustrating.

I also LOVE to play in the dirt. Mom lets me do whatever I want while she works in the garden (as long as I don't run into the street. For some reason mom doesn't think that is a good idea, but again I won't give up on trying). My favorite part about being outside is dirt. I like to put dirt on me, dirt on mom, dirt on Jack...the whole crew.

I'm fortunate to have a mother who understands my need to accesorize. Hats...

Sunglasses you know, the necessities.

All in all, I GUESS my life is pretty good, minus having the Tasmanian Devil for a brother.

Love, Marian

Crayons are NOT the best babysitters

I didn't catch Marian in the act...but this picture is probably a pretty accurate representation of what happened this morning. I've been a mom for nearly 4 years...you'd think I would know better. Apparently not.

Here are the 5 things I learned before 8:30 this morning

#1 There is officially nothing (that I am aware of) that occupies my daughter that is not:
a) destructive
b) dangerous
c) chocolate chips

#2
Leaving a 20 month old alone with crayons, even just for a few minutes, is not a good idea...no matter how desperate you are for her to do something other than cry for you to hold her.

#3 Cleaner and a rag is not a very effective way to remove crayon from wood floors and doors

#4 Cleaner and a toothbrush is! Maybe I should adopt more army punishment techniques into my parenting style.

#5 Marian is very very lucky that she is so darn cute!
