Pugh Family Update 2024
Chad: (low 40’s) He’s desperately hoping for more snow, but thanks to BYU sports, Chad is perhaps happier than he’s ever been before. His Duolingo streak is currently 1,569 days and counting so feel free to reach out and habla español with him anytime. Chad chose to not hike Timp this summer.
Mary: (lower 40’s) Checked off a long-awaited bucket list item and finally hiked Mount Timpanogos (aka Timp): elevation 1 million bajillion. She misses having all her kids under one roof, but enjoys serving with the young women at church, doing puzzles, and running…which can sometimes be mistaken for brisk walking.
Jack: (19) Hiked Timp multiple times (including twice in a 24-hour period). After graduating high school and running out of mountains to climb, he left to serve and teach the people of Mexico City about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We miss him mucho but are happy he is doing so well.
Marian: (17) Hiked Timp twice, was a team captain on the high school mountain bike team (Go Chargers) and had a great season. She keeps busy with college level classes, an after school job, and still makes the world’s best chocolate chip cookies.
Lucy: (14 but very much wishes she were 15 with a learners permit) Also hiked Timp (and wasn’t even tired afterwards). She loves mountain biking on the high school team and is crushing it as a high school student. Rumors of her being allowed to drive VERY SLOWLY around the block (with a parent) can neither be confirmed nor denied.
Grant: (12+1 minute) Was not invited to hike Timp… but after a summer of camping, cliff jumping into freezing lakes in the Unitas, and a grueling 10-mile hike to a waterfall in Hawaii, it is apparent that hiking Timp would have been no problem for him. When not in school, he spends his time practicing piano, reading Agatha Christie novels, hanging out with friends, and perfecting the art of being a 12-year-old boy. IYKYK.
Grace: (12) Was also not invited to hike Timp, but no one doubts she would have crushed it. She had an amazing season on her flag football team and spends most of her time outside playing various sports with friends. She spent HOURS this summer catching fish in the nearby canal with…I kid you not, a stick, a string…and Costco sausages for bait. For those who live more than 5 miles from us you’ll be surprised to learn that she started trumpet lessons this year. Those living within the 5-mile radius can tell you she is actually very, very good.
Rosie: (70 in dog years) Would have LOVED to hike Timp…but since Chad opted out, she preferred to stay home with him. She is everyone’s favorite.
Darla: (3.5 in dog years) Would have chewed up Timp. Darla (mini goldendoodle #2) joined our family after MUCH begging and extra chore-doing from the twins. Truly, her arrival on August 11th was in no way related to the giant, Jack-sized hole that was left in our home when he left on August 7th, but it has helped…except for the time she destroyed a rug…and ate the lights off the Christmas tree. Other than that she’s been a real joy.
